Rule of Thirds
The basic idea for the rule of thirds is breaking the image into 9 different boxes both horizontally and vertically. When you take the image you want to avoid putting the main focus in the middle. You want it on the outsides of those 9 boxes. These examples are correct because they make you focus on an object away from the middle.
